Sohan Roy Biography

Sohan Roy S K is a business tycoon turned director from India. Sohan is the CEO of the Aries Group based in the Middle East with subsidiaries in the India and Singapore. He is the founder of Aries Marine, a ship design consultancy and survey firm. He is an actor and a lyricist who earned Oscar selection for 3 soundtracks from his debut movie 'Dam999' in the year 2012.

Sohan Roy was born in Kerala, India in 1967. He started his career in Marine Engineering in Merchant Navy. He worked as a Marine Surveyor for six years in United Arab Emirates. After serving for several major companies Roy initiated Aries Marine. He founded Marine BizTV solely dedicated to the Marine Industry after he realized how dominant a media can help.

In 2011, he made his directorial debut with the 3-D English language movie 'Dam999'. This move was made after he directed a documentary DAMs - The lethal Water Bombs. This emotional thriller was set around nine characters portraying nine variants of emotions (the Navarasa). 'Dam999' was a tribute to the 1975 Banqiao Dam disaster in China that claimed 250,000 innocent lives. The movie received international acclaim. The screenplay of the movie penned by Sohan Roy was added at the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Sohan also wrote the lyrics of the songs in the movie. Three songs from the movie were officially selected for 84th Academy Awards.

Sohan's forthcoming project is 'Saint Dracula 3D' - his second international venture. He is the executive producer and the project designer of the movie.
