Sriram Raghavan Biography
Sriram Raghavan (born 1963) is a Bollywood Screenwriter and Film director. He is most known to have made a 45-minute documentary film on serial Killer Raman Raghav.
Sriram was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in a Tamil Brahmin family to a cinema-lover mom and a botanist father. He was raised in Pune, where he was schooled. He is alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. His batch mate Rajkumar Hirani edited his diploma film, The Eight Column Affair, which won a National Film Award in 1987.
Before joining FTII, he began his career in Stardust Magazine but left it as he was not interested in it. Post FTII course, he made a documentary Raman Raghav, with Raghuvir Yadav. Later, he was introduced to Ram Gopal Varma, who liked his work in the documentary Raman Raghav and zeroed on him to direct 'Ek Hasina Thi', a dark thriller which starred Saif Ali Khan and Urmila Matondkar. Thereafter he directed Johnny Gaddaar, in which Neil Nitin Mukesh debuted. It got rave reviews but did average business at the Box Office. He then directed 'Agent Vinod' starring 'Saif Ali Khan' and 'Kareena Kapoor'.
He has signed a fantasy film 'Happy Birthday' to be produced by Ramesh Sippy. It will star Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
