He came to the limelight with 'Jhankaar Beats' and conquered the country with 'Kahaani'. Sujoy Ghosh is a talented Indian Director serving the Indian Film Industry.
Sujoy Ghosh was born in 1966 in Calcutta. He was schooled in St. Jame's School. He initially stayed in Bhowanipore but later moved to London at the age of 13. He holds a Degree in Engineering and is an MBA from Manchester University. Ghosh worked odd jobs as a math's tutor, store attendant, and waiter. He was later employed as South Asia Head of Media Division of Reuters but quit in 1999. He always had a soft corner for movies.
Ghosh's directorial debut was the musical 'Jhankaar Beats', a Hinglish movie which was a tribute to R. D. Burman and his music. His next directorial was 'Home Delivery' following 'Aladin', both bombed at the box office. But his 2012 release 'Kahaani', an out and out suspense drama which featured Vidya Balan in a lead role gained both commercial and critical success as well. It also featured Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Indraneil Sengupta in pivotal roles. Sujoy achieved an overnight fame and secured a Filmfare Best Director Award for the same. Vidya Balan took away Filmfare Award for best actress for this movie.
Other than directing, Sujoy has also acted in quite a few flicks. He had a small role in Rahul Bose's 'Everybody Says I'm Fine!' and in 'My Brother Nikhil'(2005). He was beside seen in 'Bluffmaster' (2007), 'Tara Rum Pum' (2007).
Sujoy is next planning a Sequel of 'Kahaani' - 'Kahaani 2'. He will also feature in Rituparno Ghosh's 'Byomkesh Bakshi' in the lead role.
