The Bengali Tigress Sushmita Sen was born on 19th November 1975 in a Bengali family who was then living in Hyderabad. Her father Shuber Sen was a Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force and her mother Shubhra Sen owned a store in Dubai. Her mother was a jewelry designer as well. Sushmita has 2 siblings, one sister called Neelam and a brother Rajeev. Sushmita went to St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad. Sushmita did not go on to take further education.

Sushmita is recognized as one the most glamorous and stylish ladies in India. The single mother had adopted a baby girl named Renee in 2000. Earlier, Sushmita was not given a permission to adopt as she was a single mother but later she won the case at the High Court and she was given a permission to take the guardianship as a single mother. In 2010, she adopted a second baby girl and named her Alisha. Sushmita had relationships with the men like Randeep Hooda,Rajat Tara and Mudassar Aziz. But her relationships with these men could not survive and eventually she broke off with them.

In 1994, Sushmita took part in the beauty pageant Femina Miss India. She beat Aishwarya Rai and won the title. She then went on to represent India in at the Miss Universe Pageant in 2004. She won that title as well. Sushmita was the first Indian woman to win the title.

After winning the pageant, Sushmita started getting the offers from Bollywood. Her first film was 'Dastak' in 1996 directed by Mahesh Bhatt starring Mukul Dev and Sharad Kapoor. Her next film was a Tamil blockbuster 'Ratchagan' directed by Pravin Gandhi. Her character Rupali in David Dhawan's film 'Biwi No.1' won her the Filmfare award for the best supporting actress. She got the nomination for the same for her movie 'Sirf Tum'.

The Diva was next seen in 'Aankhen' by Vipul Shah in 2002 along with Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal and Akshay Kumar. The film proved to be successful at the box office. Her one of the biggest successful movies is Farah Khan's 'Main Hoon Na' co-starring Shah Rukh Khan. She was next featured as a lawyer opposite Ajay Devgn in Harry Baweja's 'Main Aisa Hi Hoon'. She was seen in David Dhawan's 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya' starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sohail Khan. The movie was a remake of Gene Saks comedy film 'Cactus Flower'.

Sushmita was recently seen in 'Do Knot Disturb' , 'Dulha Mil Gaya', 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' and 'Karma', Karma Confessions and Holi' in 2006. Some of the tentative projects in which Sushmita will be seen are 'Benazir Bhutto : The Movie' in which she will essay the character of Benazir Bhutto , the leader from the Pakistan Peoples Party. The movie will be shot in Britain, Dubai , USA and Pakistan. Her second big project is an untitled project by Farah Khan in which she will be paired opposite Salman Khan. Her third movie will be Titled as 'Sitara' a biopic on Rekha , the legendary actress.

Some of the movies in which Sushmita marked her presence are 'Fiza', 'Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta' ,'Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge' ,'Filhaal' ,'Vaastu Shastra' ,'Paisa Vasool' ,'No Problem' ,'Chingaari' ,'Bewafaa' ,'Kisna' ,'Alag' etc.
