Vimla Raman is a well known south Indian actress and model. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She was born on 23rd January 1980 in Sydney, Australia. She is a part of the film industry since 2006. Pattabhi Raman is her father from Bangalore and Santha Raman is her mother from Coimbatore. She has a younger brother who is a lawyer in USA. She was born and brought up in Sydney. She has been practicing Bharatnatyam since she was five. Vimla went to the Natanalaya Dance Academy to learn the art of dancing. Her dancing guru is Jayalakshmi Kandiah. She has won the titles 'Miss India Australia' and 'Miss India Australia Cyberqueen'. She had an aim to be an actress since her childhood. So in 2006, she shifted to India to try her luck in Indian films.

Vimla started her career in 2004 with the Tamil film 'Poi'. Her first Malayalam film is 'Time'. She has acted in numerous Tamil and Malayalam films. She has featured in few Telugu films as well. Her few notable movies are 'Nasrani' ,'College Kumaran' ,'Calcutta News' ,' Aptharakshaka', 'Romeoo' etc.

Vimla has appeared in one Hindi film by Ankush Bhatt 'Mumbai Mirror' . She will be next seen in 'Afra Tafree' by Hadi Ali Abrar starring Govinda and Suniel Shetty.
