Due to rising cases of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron, Grammy Awards got postponed for the second year in a row. South Korean pop band BTS also cancelled their United States trip after the postponement of the awards. However, their Seoul concert is still on schedule.
The award ceremony was scheduled for the month of January at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with The Daily Show’s Trever Noah as the host.
The awards got postponed two years in a row. In a statement issued by CBS and the Recording Academy, they said, “After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show.”
“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority.” They further added.
BRIGHT MUSIC the management company of BTS said in a statement that they were preparing for the ceremony but stopped discussion after hearing the news of postponement.
“However, the concert in Seoul that is scheduled in March will be held without a hitch,” the statement further said.
