Matthew Perry in Friends: Here Are Some Memorable Moments As To Why The Actor Was INSEPERABLE From The Show!

Matthew Perry contributed a particular kind of dry humour to ‘Friends’ as Chandler Bing, sometimes making light of his character's own peculiarities. Despite Chandler's repeated job shifts and relationship ups and downs, he eventually found a happy ending with his wife Monica Geller (played by Courteney Cox) and their twin babies when the series finished.

Chandler's character struck a chord with viewers, and his journey was punctuated by countless memorable moments throughout the course of Friends' ten-season run. His hilarious antics, astute off-the-cuff observations, and the unusual family he built with a pet chick and a duck made an indelible effect on numerous hearts. Even as time passes, his legacy will live on, mostly through his greatest moments during the show's 10-season run.

Here are some of his most memorable moments in ‘Friends’ which will forever honour his legacy:

The Opening Scene: When Chandler Bing was introduced to the rest of the world

In the first Friends episode, we see Chandler and the rest of the gang gathered at their favourite hangout, Central Perk. Chandler begins the talk by recounting a strange dream in which he finds himself in the most embarrassing scenario imaginable: absolutely naked. He receives an unexpected phone call from his mother as the narrative progresses.

Chandler's futile attempts to end his relationship with Janice

Janice, a recurrent character in the sitcom, is Chandler's on-again, off-again girlfriend throughout the series. His amusing attempts to break up with her are a recurring motif. One of the funniest situations occurs in Episode 5 of the first season. We go back to Chandler several times in this episode as he gradually sips coffee, growing increasingly anxious and jittery while attempting to justify his reasons for leaving his relationship with Janice. Fortunately, Phoebe comes to his aid in this hilarious circumstance.

The "Once I was a Wooden Boy" moment

When Rachel moves in with Monica following her wedding, Joey presents himself as an actor, stating, "Hey, I'm an actor." "Wow!" Rachel exclaims. "Have I ever seen you in anything?" "I doubt it," Joey (Matt LeBlanc) replies, "... mostly regional work." Monica (Courteney Cox) then informs Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) about Joey's employment as Pinocchio. And Chandler (Matthew Perry) cracks a joke, "look Geppetto, I'm a real live boy," When Joey rises up to go, stating, "I will not take this abuse," Chandler responds, "Right, I'm sorry," and then rushes behind him, singing, "Once I was a wooden boy...wooden boy.”

Episode 13 of Season 2: "The One After the Superbowl: Part 2"

Post-Super Bowl episodes are always well-received, and this one was no exception. It included a special guest star, Julia Roberts, who was Matthew Perry's real-life lover at the time, as confirmed by Matthew Perry in 2022. In this episode, Julia portrayed Susie Moss, Chandler's old classmate who gets back at him by leaving him practically naked in a restroom. This retaliation was in reaction to a humiliating situation he caused her in elementary school.

"The One with the Proposal"

By the end of Season 6, the commitment-phobic Chandler has undergone a tremendous shift as his love story with Monica blossoms. However, as the emotional moment progresses, Monica feels overwhelmed. Chandler seizes the chance to move up and take command in a poignant turn of events. To properly appreciate the scene's beauty, watch it for yourself and see if you can hold back the tears.

Joey and Chandler's chair fight

Tensions rise in Season 3, Episode 2 as they engage in a ridiculous argument over a chair in Monica and Rachel's flat. This commotion occurs right before they are set to attend an event at Ross's museum. What begins as a simple disagreement over a seat quickly develops into an exuberant brawl that overflows into each other's clothes, ending in side-splitting comic outcomes.

"The One Where Everybody Finds Out"

Over the course of two episodes, fans enjoyed seeing the pals find out one by one that Monica and Chandler were a couple, allowing each character to "have a little fun of our own," as Phoebe quipped before a rendezvous ruse.

The One With All The Kissing

Rachel wishes to inform Ross that she still has emotions for him, which worries Monica and the rest of the gang. When she does, Chandler rises up to kiss Monica goodbye, but then he realises they're keeping their relationship private. As a result, Chandler must continue to kiss Rachel and Phoebe goodbye in order to conceal the kiss he gave Monica.

"The Steam Room Incident"

Chandler panics when attempting to play racquetball with Ross and Monica's father Jack (Elliott Gould) in season 7. Following the match, they went into the steam room, where Chandler unwittingly sat on his future father-in-law's (also naked) lap, temporarily blinding him due to fog on his glasses.

In the Friends series finale, Matthew Perry delivers the last line

Matthew Perry's request resulted in his obtaining the final line in the Friends season finale. Chandler Bing, played by Perry, made a finishing joke in the final episode of this acclaimed comedy, which aired from 1994 to 2004, and centred on a group of six friends in New York City. "Should we grab some coffee?" he said, to which he received the response, "Sure. Where?"
