Well-known Hollywood star Sharon Stone is set to return to the DC universe. He has onboarded the upcoming superhero film Blue Beetle wherein he will be seen in a completely new role.
To be directed by Angel Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the forthcoming film stars Xolo Mariduena in the titular role.
According to reports, Stone has been roped in to play the antagonist Victoria Kord, a character especially created for the upcoming film.
In the DC universe, the 64-year-old actor previously essayed a role in the poorly received 2004 Halle Berry film, Catwoman.
In addition to Xolo Mariduena and Sharon Stone, Blue Beetle also has Raoul Max Trujillo, Belissa Escobedo, Harvey Guille, and Bruna Marquezine on the cast. Trujillo will play the role of Carapax the Indestructible Man in the film. In the comics, the character is Conrad Carapax, an archaeologist whose mind melds with the body of a robot.
The film will see Mariduena play teenager Jaime Reyes, who gains superpowers after his encounters with alien armour. This is the first DC film to star a Latino hero.
Warner Bros is planning to release the film on August 18, 2023.
