The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo, who are behind some of the biggest and most well-known films of all time, have directed The Gray Man, an action-packed visual extravaganza starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Rege Jean Page, and Dhanush. This film also marks Dhanush’s debut in the Hollywood industry. While the directors and Ryan Gosling all praised him, Rege Jean Page and Jessica spoke candidly about Dhanush in the film.
The Bridgerton star said, “The grace and style and badassery of that man is something to behold and that’s going to be a thunderbolt in the film. If Batman was twice as badass, then he might get halfway to where Dhanush is in this film.” Jessica Henwick also praised him saying, “Dhanush was amazing. He has a quiet power and I want that.”
In the movie, which also has Chris Evans, Claire Fitzroy, and Alfre Woodard among others, Dhanush plays a small but crucial part. Joe and Anthony Russo, the film's directors, already acknowledged that they based Avik's character on Dhanush.
Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), a CIA agent also known as Sierra Six, is The Gray Man. Gentry was formerly a highly trained, Agency-approved merchant of death who was plucked from federal prison and hired by his handler Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton). The roles have now been reversed, and Six is chased across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), an ex-CIA colleague who will do anything to kill him. He is supported by Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas).
The Russo Brothers’ directorial The Gray Man will premiere on Netflix on July 22.
