The hue of Harry Potter's eyes differs significantly between the novels and films. While Harry is depicted in the novel as having "bright green" eyes, actor Daniel Radcliffe played him in all three films with naturally blue eyes. But why did the eyes change colour?
The producers forced Daniel Radcliffe to wear green lenses to match Harry's description in the novels, but Radcliffe had an allergic response to them, and the directors finally chose to remove the lenses and go with Daniel's actual eye colour. Radcliffe's blue eyes piqued the interest of producer David Heyman, who spotted the young actor at a theatre.

J.K. Rowling requested that Harry's eyes be the same as those of his mother, Lily, although she did not specify that they be green. This method gave them more creative flexibility.
"There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe," Heyman later said about the first time he met Radcliffe at a theatre. "I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time, he was really voracious and hungry for knowledge of whatever kind."

Radcliffe's appearance was made feasible by the choice to maintain Harry Potter's eyes blue in the films, despite their green depiction in the novels.
