Exclusive! Banaras lead stars Sonal Monteiro and Zaid Khan describe their film as a mature love story with a thrill & mystery

The upcoming movie Banaras, starring Zaid Khan and Sonal Monteiro, is a compelling love story with mystery set against the backdrop of Kashi. The vibrant Banaras culture serves as the basis for the melodious love story. Banaras will portray stunning Banaras on the screen with its attractive locales, including its temples, ghats, and River Ganga. To talk about the film, the cast of the film Zaid Khan and Sonal Monteiro had a quick chat with Bollywoodmdb.

How was the experience shooting in Banaras which is a very religious and beautiful place?

Zaid: When we were shooting for the film over there the vibes, the atmosphere, and there were so many temples and ghats. 24*7 Pooja takes place over there. We were completely flat after watching it. We completed 80 to 85% of the film’s shoot over there. So, we had a lot of fun over there.

What would you guys do after completing your shoot?

Sonal: I used to go and eat sweets every day after the shoot. So, if you watch the movie, you can see at the beginning of the film I am all fit but towards the end, you’ll see me gain a little weight. And after shooting we used to go to Ganga aarti at 6:30.

There are so many ghats over there and it is said that each ghat gives you a different experience, so did you experience any such thing?

Sonal: Every ghat has its own story and we have covered all 84 ghats but mostly we were at the Ganga ghat. And everyone might be aware of the Manikarnika ghat where they burn bodies. So, after shooting over there, personally, it has affected me. Like I realized over there that life is very small, you only have some years in your life so you should just live it to the fullest without keeping any enmity and you know just be happy. So, after Banaras, I have also changed personally.

As there is another film Raanjhanaa which was filmed at Banaras, so people try to find resemblances. So, Zaid as this is your debut film how challenging it was for you as you also come from a political background?

Zaid: Raanjhanaa is a love story. In this film, you will find thrill and mystery and you know we have tried something new by keeping Banaras as background. So, I guess people are going to love the film. It is a mature kind of love story. Talking about coming from a political background, there are many positives and many minuses but the majority are minuses. When you are a kid to a star or a political person, I think you’ll be having the most back draws.

Is there any change before and after your shot at Banaras?

Sonal: Yes, there are changes. Like you’ll get to see the authenticity of the old Kashi Ghat in the film whereas it has changed now.

Zaid: Yes, we are the last people to shoot in Banaras.
