Exclusive Interview: Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha is a wholesome entertainer

Shiv Darshan , who made his acting debut with the film 'Karle Pyaar Karle' in 2014, is all set to woo the audiences' hearts once again with his second film, ' Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha '. The trailer and music of the film have already been received extremely well by the audience, and Shiv is hopeful that the audience would shower the same kind of love on the movie as well. Before ' Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha ' hits theaters on 30th June, BollywoodMDB.com reporter, Mohnish Singh engages in a fun-filled conversation with the young lad in order to get more info about his film.

Shiv, tell us something about your character in the movie?

I am playing a character called Devdhar. He is a very intense, brooding kind of a person. Since it's a romantic suspense thriller, I cannot reveal much about the film and my character. You will have to watch it in theaters on 30th June.

How does it feel to be directed by your father?

It feels good. He is a brilliant filmmaker, and I am not saying this because he is my father. You can look at his filmography and see for yourself. He has worked with some biggest stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. He has launched new faces that went onto become superstars like Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta. I am delighted to have worked under his direction.

How would he treat you on sets?

He would treat me like any other or crew member working on the set. On set, I was his actor, not his son. But one thing which I felt is that whenever Natasha and Upen wanted to do a certain scene again, he would allow them. But if I wanted the same, he would say, 'No, move on! (laughs).

A lot is being said and written about nepotism in Bollywood. Since you belong to a film family, what is your take on that?

Nepotism is a very hot topic right now. But I feel why should I be penalized to be a filmmaker's son? I am proud to be a filmmaker's son. You might get your first break easily if you belong to a film family, but to touch the audiences' hearts not once but repeatedly, it's eventually your talent that matters.

What's secret behind your stubble? You look great even without it.

I am personally doing it for my character. In my mind and Dad's mind, this suits the character.

Any particular thing which you liked a lot about your female costar Natasha?

She is a brilliant actress and a nice human being. One thing I quite liked about her is that when during the shoot if we ever tried to pull a prank on her or tease her, she would tell me, 'Now I am going into my character, so I'll be in a bad mood, so understand."

Your film has Nadeem's music in it, so undoubtedly all songs of the movie have to be good. Which one is your favorite?

To be honest with you and not sound politically correct, I will say that all six songs of the film are such that my fancy towards them changes according to my mood. If am sad, I kind of like 'Tum Kahan They' and 'Aankhon Mein Aanshu'. If I am happy, I listen to 'Nayan'. I like 'Hanste Hanste'. So, it all depends on the mood, to be honest. I think all the songs are very good.

Biopics are in trend in Bollywood. So, if given a chance, who would you like to play onscreen?

Hitler. He is a very interesting character. I would love to play such an intense character.

Tell us about the main USP of your film.

It's a wholesome entertainer. After a long, long time a film has come which touches your heart. It's one of the main USPs of the film.
