Awara Paagal Deewana Plot

The film begins with the death of a wealthy underworld don (played by Om Puri). The don's sudden death creates turbulence in the lives of many people. Everyone is worried about one thing – Who will inherit his legacy? Firstly, there is don's son-in-law Guru Gulab Khatri (Akshay Kumar) who claims that the don loved him like his own son and, therefore, he is the true heir. But the late don's stepson Vikrant (Rahul Dev) thinks otherwise. He contends that being the old man's son he should get all his wealth. Then there is Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani), Vikrant's stepsister and Guru's wife who is also an equal contender for the wealth. A big part of the late don's fortune constitutes diamonds worth millions. They are kept in a bank locker. And, according to the don's will, these diamonds should be divided evenly among Guru, Vikrant and Preeti. But differences grow between Guru and Vikrant. Vikrant plays his cards well and gets Guru indicted for a serious crime. Guru leaves India for America. Back in India, Vikrant declares a hefty award to anyone who informs him of Guru's whereabouts. Meanwhile, in the US Guru befriends Dr. Anmol Acharya (Aftab Shivdasani). Soon Anmol comes to know of the award on Guru's head and is prodded by his greedy wife (Amrita Arora) to contact Vikrant. Anmol comes to India where he is taken hostage by a local goon Anna (Sunil Shetty). Anna makes a clandestine deal with Vikrant that he will get rid of Guru for the prize money. Then he, along with his sidekick Chotu (Johny Lever) and Anmol, heads for the US. Although Anmol thinks that Anna is just after the prize money there is much more on Anna's mind. He knows of the diamonds and wants to walk away with the entire fortune.
