In the city of Delhi, there lives a florid and happy-go-lucky Babli (Ranbir Kapoor). Reared in Delhi-based Jai Hind orphanage, Babli's nature is insensitive to know the thin line between good and bad. His entire upbringing takes place in Jai Hind orphanage in Delhi, being without his parents from his birth. Babli is fond of living a fearless life and loves wearing flashy clothes and cool shades. Following this, Babli gets obsessed with smoothly stealing the luxury cars and using the amount minted from selling these cars for the education and health care of orphanage kids.
In the middle of his smoothly flowing colourful life, Babli comes across Tara Sharma (Pallavi Sharda), a beautiful girl living with her mother (Himani Shivpuri) in a Delhi ka mohalla. Babli falls in love with Tara and starts luring her with his sense of humor and good nature. But, Babli does not make a good impression in the mind of Tara, because of his loafergiri on the streets. Tara works at a managerial position at an MNC and believes in living life king size. One day, she buys a luxurious Mercedes car. On the other hand, a baddie from Chandigarh, Bhimsingh Chandel (Javed Jaffrey), who is notorious for his political link ups, offers an attractive proposal to Babli. As per this proposal, Babli gets a chance to earn big money by ripping off the posh cars and handing them over to Chandel. Babli instantly joins hands with Chandel with the greed of making huge cash. On an unfortunate day, Babli spots shiny red-coloured Mercedes parked outside Tara's office and within no time, Babli rips it off without knowing the Mercedes belongs to Tara. Somehow he come to know that he had stolen Tara's newly purchased car and Tara is in a big trouble now. This incident makes a way for the further chaos.
