BODYGUARD is a Hindi feature film which released on 31st August, 2011 on a Wednesday instead of a Friday due to the festival Eid. Its producers are Atul Agnihotri and Alvira Agnihotri and its director is Siddique. This film has been made under the banner of Reliance Entertainment
Story : Salman Khan plays the role of Lovely Singh. He is very punctual and sincere towards his duty, whatsoever be the job he takes up. After many sequences he gets appointed as the bodyguard of Divya (played by Kareena Kapoor). She is none other than the daughter of Sartaj Rana (played by Raj Babbar) who is a business tycoon.
Lovely Singh takes care of Divya to extreme extent. He even follows her to her college campus which Divya doesn't like. She doesn't want her personal life to be surrounded or interfered by any outsider. She gets irritated due to her bodyguard's over protective nature. Hence she makes a plan to keep him away from herself. She starts making fake calls to Lovely Singh and introduces herself to be his lover. On the pone she tells him that she admires him and had fallen in love with him.
This continues and a time comes when Lovely too falls in love with the girl who used to call him repeatedly. He shows his desire to meet her. Due to some unavoidable reasons Divya is unable to meet him but she sends her friend to meet him in her place.
What happens later make the rest of the film..
Performance : Salmaan Khan is superb! He has done his action scenes as well as romantic scenes brilliantly.
Kareena Kapoor is as usual.
Katrina Kaif looks far more beautiful and better than Kareena Kapoor in her short role.
Raj Babbar as Sartaj has performed very well. Rajat Rawail is also good in his role. Asrani and Mahesh Manjerakar have also justified their roles.
Script : First half of the story is okay and interesting but the climax is not up to the mark. It is disappointing.
Music : Music is composed by two music directors: Himesh Reshmaiyaan and Pritam. Both have composed its music very well but the music given by Himesh is very good and catchy. As usual, Himesh is excellent in his job.
Cinematography : Cinematography by Sejal Shah is excellent. The camera has captured very fine moments and shots of train action scenes.
Direction : Direction by Siddique (Earlier known as Siddique-Lal duo) is excellent. He did very well in his Malyalam film BODYGUARD and has also done his job brilliantly while making the remake in Hindi of his own film BODYGUARD.
Plus Points : Salmaan Khan, especially his exceptionally good action scenes are the plus points of this film. Music too is its plus point.
Conclusion : This film is the Hindi remake of Malyalam film made in the same title and with the same director. This is expected to be a big hit due to Salman Khan and its release on Eid. However the story disappoints somewhere so the film would certainly gain huge openings due to Salman Khan and its promos and festive seasons but it is doubtful whether it would continue its success for long.
Verdict : If you are a Salman fan and love watching action movies, go for it!
