'Bombay Talkies' is an eulogy by India's top four directors to celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema.The film contains four short stories directed by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap.
The first story is directed by Karan Johar. It narrates the story of a sexually repressed wife Gayatri and Dev (Rani Mukherjee and Randeep Hooda). Dev is not at all interested in his marital rights. Gayatri opens up to her junior at work Ashwin (Saqib Saleem) who openly calls himself a gay. The problem arises when Gayatri calls over Ashwin at her place for dinner.
The second story is directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The story narrates about a simple Maharashtrian guy Purandar ( Nawazuddin Siddiqui) from a lower middle class family. He has tried his luck in all sorts of professions , but in vein. The excellent actor , Purandar's life takes a turn when he gets an opportunity to work with a big director.
The third story is directed by Zoya Akhtar. The story is about a young boy Vicky (Naman Jain) who looks normal like any other young lad but is obsessed with Katrina Kaif. He wants to be like her and dance like her when grow up. He thinks that he is a girl inside. But his demanding father wants him to be a tough guy. What will Vicky do and what will be his father's action and reaction after learning the truth about Vicky?
The fourth story is directed by Anurag Kashyap. It is the story about Vijay ( Vineet Kumar Singh) who lives a normal life in Allahbad until his father sends him to Mumbai to meet his father's favorite Amitabh Bachchan. Will Vijay will be able to meet Big B and make him taste his homemade pickle for his father's sake?
