Chala Mussaddi - Office Office Review

CHALA MUSSADDI OFFICE OFFICE is a Hindi feature film which falls in the genre of comedy and is produced and directed by Rajiv Mehra. Other producers of this film are Rajesh Mehra and Umesh Mehra.

Story : Mussaddi Lal is a retired school teacher. He lives with his wife and a young son Bunty (Gaurav Kapoor) who is unemployed. One day Mussaddi Lal admits his wife in a hospital but she dies due to carelessness of the doctors and also due to their irresponsible behavior towards her. She also meets death due to a kidney racket about which Mussaddi remains ignorant.

After her death, Mussaddi, along with his son, leaves for holy places to immerse her ashes in holy water. But he had never imagined that he would be declared dead instead of his wife in his absence.

Actually, after he sets out for pilgrimage, some officers from pension department reach Mussaddi's house to know his status. A neighbor of Mussaddi, Gupta tells them that he had gone away but the officers misunderstand him and think that Mussaddi had died. Eventually they mention him dead in their files.

On returning back when Mussaddi goes to pension office to get his pension money, he gets shocked to know that he was declared dead in the government records. He clarifies them that he was not dead and was alive and standing in front of them but they do not believe him or they don't want to believe him.

Mussaddi keeps on telling that he was Mussaddi but they ask him to produce appropriate proofs of his being alive.

When Mussaddi brings many proofs along with him stating that he was alive they are not ready to belive it deliberately because they know that if they believe him they would have to undo what they had done with his pension money considering him dead.

Getting irritated Mussaddi wants to take laws into his hands to teach them a lesson.

What happens with Mussaddi Lal make the rest of the film!

Performance : Pankaj Kapoor has acted very well and looks good in his role. Deven Bhojani has over acted and cause irritation. His dialogue delivery is not so good. Sanjay Mishra looks funny as ever. Gaurav Kapoor is average. Manoj Pahwa is good in his role. Asawari Joshi is also okay in her role.

Script : Script by Ashwini Dheer is not up to the mark and bore you at many places. It is dragging and dull at many places. Dialogues are also not so impressive.

Music : Despite good songs written by Gulzar, music is below average by Sajid-Wajid.

Direction : Rajiv Mehra is the director of this film who could not make the film interesting due to weak and dull script.

Minus Points : Despite interesting plot, it has been written badly which keeps you bored at many places. The film becomes slow at many places. Music of the film is below average. Some artists such as Deven Bhojani have over acted and looked over confident.

Conclusion : This film has been made on the serial 'Office Office' which was hit in the yea 2001 & 2002 on SAB TV. But it was good when it was made for TV. It's not as good as the serial. Few months back the makers of hit serial 'Khichdi' had made a mistake of turning the serial into a film which the audience rejected. The film KHICHDI was very bad but this film is not bad; however it is not highly interesting or entertaining also. It was a mistake by the makers of 'Office Office' to turn into a feature film because the material into the script was not sufficient for a film. This film shows the corruption prevalent in our system (which is not new and shown in many films earlier in different ways).

Verdict : Watching this film on silver screen is not wise because it becomes boring at many places, but you can surely watch it when it is released on satellite and DVD. If you watch it in theater, no problem if you have extra money!
