DAAYEN YA BAAYEN, as the title suggests, is not a comedy film but a serious movies with little satire fun in it.
The story of the film is such:
The film is about Ramesh Majila (Deepak Dobriyal) who is lives in a small remote village in the Himalayan region. He dreams to be a scriptwriter. Ramesh shifts to Mumbai to make a place in Bollywood but soon realizes that it was very difficult to survive in metro like Mumbai. He struggles very hard to write scripts for serials and films but doesn't get success. So he decides to get back to his village and settle there forever. When his wife and son come to know about his intentions they do not like it because they had planned to leave their village and shift to Mumbai.
DAAYEIN YA BAAYEIN is a movie about how Ramesh discovers himself better and live through his stupid behavior.
When Ramesh re-enters his village, the villagers get excited to see him and receive him. They welcome him very warmly. Ramesh boasts that he had written many serials which were telecasted on various channels. He was telling true or lie villagers have no time to distinguish this and they believe his words.
When Ramesh tells them that he had come to settle in his village and work for the welfare of their village, there are different reactions of the villagers. Some of the villagers get happy to know his decision whereas some suggest him not to settle in the village. They tell that their village had nothing to give them. There was only electricity which the government had provided them. There were two three computers donated by the government to a school but no body knew to use the computers so they remain unused. So his future would be in dark if he settled there forever. They tell him that even they had decided to shift to some other city in search of some suitable jobs.
But Ramesh doesn't listen to their suggestions.
Despite his wife and son's opposition he settles in the village and joins a school as an English teacher. There he gets to see that the computers donated by the government were lying unused.
A twist comes into the film when he wins a car in a contest. Actually he also used to write poetry and jingles. Coincidently, he participates into a contest where his jingle is selected and he wins a luxurious car. The company people come to his village to give him the car. But there are no proper roads in his village so the car couldn't reach his door.

The villagers are enthralled to see a car in their village. The children adore a lot. There are also some jealous people who envy his car.

Since the car can't be kept in Ramesh's home because the car can't go to his door, the car is parked near a tea stall far away from the village.

For the car's security, one by one everyone takes the charge of guarding it. But who ever guards the cars feels that he was the owner of the car which irritates Ramesh.
There is again a twist in the film when the car is stolen. Ramesh then sets out on a mission to get back his lost dignity and respect as well his stolen car. Who had stolen the car? What would be the fate of Ramesh is the rest of the story.

The story of the film is good with some good message in it. The screenplay and the dialogues are also okay. The writer has tried to put some humor elements in this serious story. This film also tells others that to get a place in Bollywood was not so easy task.

Such films don't need songs and music so you shouldn't expect songs and music in this film.

This is the debut film of the director Bela Negi. She has also acted in some serials. Malgudi Days was a very popular serial in which she acted years ago. From that time only it was in her mind to make a film on the problems of her village (on deforestation issue). After so many years her dream came to be true.

As a director she has done her job well. She has shot on a real location in Uttrakhand (also her native place) and with real people. Since her budget did not permit her to cast big or known stars, she made her villagers to act in her film which is a very hard job. Except Deepak Dobriyal, hardly any professional actor can be seen in this film. However, all the new comers have done their part very well and the director Bela should be given its credit.

Due to lack of famous star cast, this film may not gain popularity and may not earn revenues, but critics would like it.

Apart from star cast, the speed of the film is another drawback of the film. The film seems to be extended at many places. It could have been short or with high speed or few more good elements could have been incorporated to avoid dullness. However, the director has tried to put some satire fun in the film which is a relief to the audience.

This film is not for those who watch films only for entertainment. If you want to watch serious cinema on some serious issues, this film is for you.
