DESI BOYZ is a Hindi feature film which released on 25th November, 2011. This film has been directed by Rohit Dhawan who is the son of famous Bollywood director David Dhawan. Hence people waited eagerly for his film. Will this film live up to the expectations of the audience? Read the review ahead.

Story : Jerry Patel (Akshay Kumar) and Nick Mathur (John Abraham) are going through financial problems due to the recession. They do not have any job and thus they are worried about their future. Jerry has his sister's orphan son and he has to look after him. Nick is in love with his girlfriend Deepika Padkone and he finds it very difficult to fulfill her high needs. In comes Sanjay Dutt in cameo role who hires both of them as male escorts in his recession proof company named as Desi Boyz, which justifies the title of the film.

So what happens to them and how do they recover from their bad situation is what the film talks about in a comical manner.

Performance

John Abraham has done well. Earlier also he had done good comic role with Akshay Kumar in GARAM MASALA some years back. He has proved that he can do action as well as comedy equally well. His timing is good and he had done well with Abhishek Bachchan earlier. Akshay Kumar is also good in his role. In fact he is a good actor but he has spoilt his career because he chose some bad scripts. Deepika Padukone looks beautiful and has performed well. Chitrangada is also good. Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher and Omi Vaidya are more than good.

Script : The script is average; its screenplay is weak. As a debutant director, Rohit Dhawan should have chosen tight screenplay and powerful script.

Music : Music of the film has been composed by Pritam Chakraborty which is good. After a long time, Pritam is back with his original style and some of the songs have become chartbusters. Many other songs are also catchy and you can listen to them repeatedly for a few days or months.

Cinematography : The DOP has done good job and he has used good sense in lighting, lenses and angles.

Direction : Though Rohit Dhawan is a debutant director, he is the son of well know director David Dhawan; hence he has learnt a lot from his father and his direction is not amateurish. His angles and takings as well as blocks are far better than his fathers. Overall, he has done well.

Plus Points : Deepika Padukone and Music are the plus points of this film. Even Akshay Kumar and John Abraham will attract audience. Sanjay Dutt too is a plus point.

Minus Points : Not for family.

Conclusion : After the huge success of FORCE, this film will get benefits due to John Abraham. Also no other film is its competitor this Friday; hence this film will do well in the beginning. Later on it may not do so well.

Verdict : An average film. No problem in watching without your family in theaters. It does contain some comical and funny scenes.
