DHOBI GHAAT is a much awaited film of this year. Everyone was curious to watch this film because this film was being directed by Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao. But is it worth watching?

Cast & Crew: The film stars Aamir Khan, Pratik Babbar, Monica dogra, Kirti Malhotra, Kittu Gidwani, Nafisa khan etc.

Writer: Kiran Rao

Director: Kiran Rao

Producer: Aamir Khan

Story: The film revolves around four characters but these four characters are not linked to each other. There isn't any relation between them which could bring them together. But in the long run a relationship develops between them which link them together.

Yasmin (Kirti Malhotra) is from UP who, after her marriage, has come to Mumbai and lives here with her husband. Arun (Aamir Khan) is a painter who always remains in his imaginary world of paintings and keeps painting what he thinks best. He prefers to remain alone. He has got habituated to remain alone.

Sai (Monica Dogra) is linked to Banking Industry and she loves photography.

Munna (Pratik Babbar) is a washer man's son who migrated to Mumbai from Bihar when he was 8 year old and from them onwards he lived with his uncle here. He lives in his own dream and wants to build body like Salman Khan.

What brings all these characters is the rest of the film.

Performance: As usual Aamir Khan has performed excellently. It is only he who is the highlight of the film. But the part he has got to do would hardly impress you or entertain you.

Newcomer like Pratik Babbar is also okay. Kirti Malhotra and Monica Dogra have also justified their roles.

Script: The script has been written by Kiran Rao who fails in most of the aspects. She herself has got confused then how could audience get any answer. While watching the film you don't know why you are watching the film and where you would expect to end the film. Script and screenplay are very weak and have many loopholes.  Only the dialogues are okay.

Direction: Since the script is very weak you can't expect the direction to be impressive. Until and unless you have a good script you can't show your talent as a director. This was Kiran Rao's first film as an independent director and it was produced from her home production so she had full freedom to do anything and prove her talent. But it seems that either she misused her opportunity or she could not make use of the golden opportunity to prove her talent.

Taking wise she is okay but any assistant or chief assistant director could have taken those shots which she has taken. The actual talent is seen when you choose any subject as a director and how you execute it.

Since she herself is also the writer she did not try to choose another subject. Had she chosen another script from another writer she might have done well.

Since Aamir Khan is her husband he would hardly listen to any criticism about his wife's work or he would hardly find fault in her work. Hence you can't expect Aamir Khan to comment anything against the film. Yet he would feel in his heart that his wife had failed to keep up his reputation. Till now Aamir Khan had given almost all films super hits like GHAZNI, 3 IDIOTS etc but this film would neither do good business nor would be appreciated to be an entertainer.

PEEPLI LIVE, even though it was a small budget film, yet it was a good film (better than DHOBI GHAAT) and was appreciated by all.

DHOBI GHAAT stands no where in comparison to the earlier films of Aamir Khan.

Negative Point: DHOBI GHAAT is neither a musical film nor an entertainer. It could have been a documentary but it doesn't even fit in documentary category because documentaries need a lot of research to be done before you convert anything into a film. Just because Kiran Rao experienced some problems when she had come to Mumbai initially doesn't mean that she could convert her experiences into a film by investing so much money. People like fiction; not reality.

Plus Point: This film could show you the real life of people living in Mumbai.

Verdict: If you are a die hard fan of Aamir Khan you can go for it otherwise wait for its satellite release if you don't want to waste your high earned money.
