One line Review: 'Ghayal Once Again' is a full-fledged action packed drama that also explores the emotional aspects of life.
Positive Points: The movie offers an action drama with an emotionally touching storyline. The flow from the past to present was quite smooth and the flashbacks, though not too many but, were comprehensible. The thriller is gripping and manages to keep the audience engrossed.
Negative Points: Some sequences are plain unacceptable, where in one man tries to control the entire city and the system! There were a few other scenes which seemed unrealistic.
Plot: The film is the continuation of its prequel 'Ghayal' (1990). After completing his jail sentence, Ajay Mehra (Sunny Deol) now owns a newspaper called Satyakam and has earned a name for himself in the field of investigative journalism. He has managed to build a positive reputation amongst the people and has a fan following amongst the youth. Soha Ali Khan plays the role of his doctor. Raj Bansal (Narendra Jha) is a powerful businessman with political support. His drug addict son kills Joe D'Souza (Om Puri) in the rage of anger but, four college students Zoya, Varun, Rohan, and Anushka accidently film the murder while on their fun expedition. This murder film turns out to create havoc in the lives of these kids as they had the evidence against the most powerful man in the city. Ajay Mehra takes it upon him to save these kids from Bansal. Will Ajay be able to safeguard the kids while trying to expose Bansal and his son? This sums up the entire film.
Direction and other Technical Aspects: Sunny Deol is the whole and soul of this movie. He has handled the direction part aptly. The action sequences are shot and executed exceptionally. The dialogue from the film 'Agar hum sach ke sath hai, toh jeetne tak haar nahi manni chahiye' is an impactful one while others seem average. There is more of an emotional aspect to the movie. It also features a twist to the delight of the audience. The thriller is gripping and manages to keep the audience glued.
Performances: Sunny Deol packs a huge punch with his movie. Needles to say, he delivers a powerful performance and is undoubtedly one of the best action heroes in the industry. His fans will surely be delighted to have him back on the silver screens.
Soha Ali Khan who plays the role of a neurologist, has relatively lesser screen presence but delivers a good performance in the supporting role.
Om Puri's character is not utilised to its full potential. He is seen in very less number of frames in the movie.
Narendra Jha plays the role of a baddie in the film. He does nothing much rather just uses his power to get things done in order to destroy Ajay Mehra and the kids.
All the four kids - Shivam Patil, Aanchal Munjal, Daina Khan, and Rishabh Arora have essayed their part well.
Music: The songs in the film are passable. Background score is average.
Final Verdict: The movie will be a pleasure for all the Sunny Deol Fans! Overall the film sums up to a decent weekend treat, 'Ghayal Once Again' can be a onetime watch.
