One-line Review: 'Hate Story 2': A Villainy Attempt.
Positive points: Thrilling assassination techniques, Mesmerizing recreation of "Aaj Phir Tumpe Pyaar Aaya Hai", Sushant Singh's villainous act.
Negative points: Defusing plot that fails to hold audience till the end.
Plot: Sonika (Surveen Chawla) is a vibrant photographer who has got two admirers; one is her classmate Akshay (Jay Bhanushali) and next is a fierce politician named Mandar Mhatre.
Mandar owns Sonika's life, to satisfy his merciless sexual needs keeping her as his mistress. When Akshay's unconditional love comes on her path, she flees with him to an exotic location to spend few days in solace. But her smooth life again takes a jerk, when Mandar and his men find them and kill Akshay.
Aftermath, she is left with vengeance to kill Mandar and his men for brutally murdering her love.
Direction And Other Technical Aspects: Debutant director Vishal Pandya has tried to do justice to the sequel of dirty-revenge 'Hate Story'. But his attempts went unfruitful, because of the hampering screenplay. Cinematographer Kedar Gaikwad have shot the film well, whether it's a steamy scene or the thrilling assassinations. It will surely woo you. Plus, 'Hate Story 2' is edited as per the erotic format, which works for it.
Performances: Surveen Chawla has lived up to her 'Hate Story 2' character Sonika. In the first half, she appears as a caged mistress and after interval she transforms into a deadly assassin. Jay Bhanushali as Akshay appeared average in front of her.
Sushant Singh is a show-stealer of 'Hate Story 2'. You will be forced to hate him for his arrogant character, but at the same time you will love him for his performance. Now, what more can a villain ask for?
Music: 'Hate Story 2' album is collectively composed by Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Rashid Khan, Mithoon and Meet Bros Anjjan. "Aaj Phir Tumpe Pyaar Aaya Hai" and "Pink Lips" is already topping the charts. While, the other songs "Kabhi Aayine Pe Likha Tujhe" and "Hai Dil Ye Mera" are averagely good.
Final Verdict: Don't expect over the top steamy scenes and logical plot from 'Hate Story 2', you will get disappointed. But go for it, if you want to view some strange assailing techniques.
