Rating: 2/5
One line review: A run-of-the-mill love story in which the audience are offered nothing novel.
Positive points: Beautiful shooting locales, Stunning acting by Kangana Ranaut.
Negative points: Non-engaging storyline, Not-so-tuneful music, Offers nothing new.
Plot: 'I Love NY' is a tale that happens in one night. Tikku Verma (Kangana Ranaut) a school teacher and Randhir Singh (Sunny Deol) is a hard working man. The two strangers, Tikku and Randhir, who stay in different places, accidentally meet each other on New Year's eve in New York while a series of comedy of error events takes place. The destiny brings them together through some funny incidents. While the entire world is busy welcoming the New Year, these two individuals come to know an unknown fact about their life that their own romantic relationships are not working out.
By taking a challenge of improving their romantic relationships, they decide to start a new beginning. What happens further forms the rest of the story.
Direction and other technical aspects: 'I Love NY' directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru talks about a love story that starts blooming on New Year's eve. The movie is stuffed with emotions, love and all. The second half of the film sounds low as compared to the first half. The film has nothing new to offer to the audience and rides on the same track of other romantic films. The editing and cinematography is average.
Performance: Sunny Deol plays his part conveniently. The lead lady Kangana Ranaut performs her role better than that of the lead actor. The other characters like Tannishtha Chatterjee, Navin Chaudhary, Reema Lagoo and Prem Chopra essay their respective roles in a good manner and lend a good support.
Music: The music of the film by Pritam Chakraborty does not seem to have much shelf-life. The tracks like 'Aao na', 'Halki Halki', 'Aaja Meri Jaan', 'Judaai' and 'Gud naal ishq meetha' sound average.
Final Verdict: 'I Love NY' presents nothing new and has a non-entertaining storyline. However, Kangana Ranaut steals the show as usual with her flawless acting.
