In 1947, at the time of independence, when the maps of India and Pakistan were being drawn, a mistake occurred due to which the village of Paglapur wasn't placed in either country. Perhaps its name was Pagalpur because it had the peculiarity of housing the largest mental asylum in the county and in the conflict that ensued at the time of partition, the inmates of the asylum broke loose and they drove away the resident of that village and thereafter established their own republic in that village (Paglapur).
And thereafter that village remained in that state for the next sixty years! On one hand the world outside kept changing and progressing whereas on the other hand Paglapur continued to remain isolated. There was no electricity in that village, no television or common sense!
Now, decades after the world had forgotten that village, a NASA scientist Agastya, who was of Indian origin, along with his beautiful wife find themselves on the road to that village.
He is working on a top secret project (to create a device) through which he could communicate with aliens. But it remains a puzzle why has he arrived in a village whose colourful residents include a man who speaks in rubbish, another who believes he is a lamp post and all others who think Mahatma Gandhi is still around who is fighting for freedom? And above all, what are they going to do that would soon change the spotlight of the universe on this village which has been forgotten?
