This film is about a witch who killed young girls of a village.
In Europe, Africa and Asia, many years ago witchery/witchcraft was practiced profoundly. It has been discovered that between 11th and 19th century nearly ninety lakhs women who were believed to possess supernatural powers like witches, were cruelly killed in such regions. In India too in eastern and northern India there were many cases of witchcrafts and witch-hunts found.
Every such event had a tale. Kaalo's tale is inspired by 1 such folk tale about a Witch whose mane was Kaalo and who used to kill young nubile girls so that she could gain power and become immortal.
Kaalo was a witch who lived in village Kulbhata during the 18th century. Since she killed young girls for her immortality she too was murdered by the furious villagers of that village and was buried. But many years after that incident Kaalo appears again to take revenge of her death.
This time she had become more dangerous than before. Geeting scared of her arrival all the villagers of Kulbhata vacate that village overnight.
Kaalo had sealed all the roads which lead to that village and if any outsider tried to enter that village he/she was killed by Kaalo.
Once a bus had to pass through that road which carried 11 passengers and Kaalo was there to kill them.
Shona (played by Swini Khara of Cheeni Kum) was one of the passengers on the bus who was a twelve-year-old girl. She was traveling alone to spend her holiday at her grandmother's home in the adjacent village.
Shona was intelligent, witty and jolly. She soon became the life of the trip. Everyone loved her appealing manners. Especially the cloistered and reserved Sameer, who was traveling with a bag loaded with gun powder to blast a small hillock which would give way to a water canal for his drought hit village.
Badly disfigured and parched for blood, Kaalo could stench the girl from far away... and headed straight for the bus...
She was going to kill everyone who came in her way... At any cost she was going to get the girl...
When the passengers became conscious they were gazing into death everything distorted... From being the life of the journey, Shona became their only cause for dying.
Everyone wanted her to get out of the bus... Some even used her as a enticement to tempt Kaalo away from themselves... Human associations changed as people fought for their continued existence...
But one man stood up to Shona and he was Sameer.
For Sameer it didn't matter if Kaalo was a human being or a witch...
All he knew was that he has to guard Shona... And time was running out! What was to be done..
