One-line Review: Yet another action-thriller film 'Kick' sporting philanthropic side of Salman Khan.
Positive points: Salman Khan's power-packed performance, Artful cinematography, Foot-tapping music.
Negative points: Predictable script, Faulty direction.
Plot: Psychiatrist Shaina (Jacqueline Fernandez) goes to receive her fiance Himanshu Tyagi (Randeep Hooda), a super cop by profession. On their way back to home, they both open up about each others' past.
Shaina narrates about her ex-boyfriend Devi Lal Singh (Salman Khan), who was a complete adrenaline-junkie. He would invite the challenging situations to get the extreme excitement out of it, which he termed as "Kick". He won Shaina's heart by his eccentric personality, but things went sour and he dumped her, leaving her depressed for rest of the life.
Where Shaina is restless because of her former love, Himanshu is going through the same state of mind but because of the hatred. He lands in Poland to chase a masked-thief named Devil, who loots rich people on festivals.
Incidentally, the man of their dream is same. Shaina ex-beau Devi Lal has transformed himself into Himanshu's masked-thief Devil. Now what made happy go-lucky Devi Lal transform into Devil, the masked thief and will Himanshu ever be able to track Devil and whether Shaina's broken heart ever mend or not, is to watch out for.
Direction And Other Technical Aspects: Producer Sajid Nadiadwala debuted into the field of direction with the action-entertainer 'Kick' and his work is an average one. Though he got masters like Rajat Arora and Chetan Bhagat to pen the screenplay, yet it was not that impactful as their earlier work. But, we would like to give a special mention to Keith Gomes for scripting the animated version of Devi Lal's childhood flash back in the film.
Cinematographer Ayananka Bose has done an excellent job while capturing those vivaciously artful 'Kick' moments. Plus, Ahmed Khan's choreography in "Jhumme Ki Raat" song is a must watch visual treat.
Performance: Salman Khan's stardom is unbeatable. When people go mad over his single glimpse, then imagine what would be their reaction to this 146 minute long film 'Kick'! Right from his grand entry on unique bike-cum car to his quirky dialogues followed by action packed sequences; his each move received a session of whistles and applause. Must say, "Devil" is out to rule the minds.
Jacqueline Fernandez as psychiatrist Shaina looks stunning in the film. Though her unfortunate dialogue delivery got pointed out, but it was quickly covered by her astonishing hip-hop moves in the song "Jhumme Ki Raat". Randeep Hooda as super cop Himanshu Tyagi has also given a good performance. Mithun Chakraborty as Salman's on-screen father comes across as the super cool personality in 'Kick'.
The man who makes his presence felt in front of Salman's extreme stardom is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He appears original in whatever scene he does.
Music: 'Kick' album is composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Meet Bros Anjjan. "Jhumme Ki Raat" and "Yaar Na Mile" are sure shot party songs topping the charts these days. "Hangover" sung by Salman Khan and Shreya Ghoshal is the melodious romantic song.
Final Verdict: 'Kick' is an ordinary action filled entertaining film, but having Salman Khan on board, the flick has gone up to the extraordinary level. The script and direction is a bit faulty one, still the action-drama is predicated to cross the 100 crore mark at the box-office definitely.
