One Line Review: A family movie with a repeated plot which fails to execute the greatness of a mother as per the title.
Positive Points: Brilliant performance by Padmini Kolhapure; some heart touching scenes and the message given at the climax.
Negative points: Poor directions; ineffective screenplay; climax with no impact; too many unwanted scenes and editing.
Plot: It is a story of Mai(Aasha Bhosle), a woman who is abandoned by her favorite son and two younger daughters after she is suspected with a dreadfull disease-Alzheimer. She is shattered when her son prefers a job in USA more than serving his mother. But her eldest daughter Madhu (played by Padmini Kolhapure) opts to take care of her against the very wish of her own family. She faces oppositions from her husband Subhash(Ram Kapoor), a journalist by profession, who doesn't want her to stay with her mother as she is the major earner of their house. Also Madhu's daughter resists sharing her room with granny as according to her she stinks. Mai's day by day growing disease, as she passes through the stages of Alzheimer, compels Madhu to choose between her job and mom. She leaves her job to dedicate herself to completely serve her mother. Also, the growing relationship between Mai with her son-in-law Subhash bring a change in Subhash's life and character.
Will Mai recover from her illness ever? Will Madhu's family accept her?
Direction and other technical aspects: Director fails to keep the audience glued to the screen. The screenplay of the movie is loosely held. Sachin Krishna's cinematography is below average. A few scenes are improperly edited.
Performances: Padmini kolhapure successfully represent an Ideal daughter and brings in all her experiences of years in her performance. Ram Kapoor does a considerably good job. Aasha Bhosles plays her part to the par.
Final Verdict: If you want to have a glimpse of Aasha bhosle acting on silver screen then you may move to theatres or else wait for a satellite release.
