Phata Poster Nikhla Hero Plot
In a small village called Shirgaon, Savitri Rao (Padmini Kolhapure) resides with her loving son, Vishwas (Shahid Kapoor). The widower Savitri drives autorickshaw for earnings and always teaches Vishwas to do only good deeds and not to indulge in any illegal works. Apparently, Savitri wishes her son to become a principled police and eradicate all the dirt in the society, thereby making it a better and safe place to live. On the other hand, Vishwas grows up with the single dream in his eyes to flaunt as a popular film actor. Savitri constantly compels Vishwas for giving test to be a part of police department, while Vishwas deliberately fails in the test for consecutive times. One fine day, an out of the blue opportunity comes on a platter for Vishwas that can drop him to his dream kingdom of Bollywood. Vishwas gets a call for attending the police training in Mumbai and he immediately snatches this chance, so that he can shine his luck as an actor in the city of dreams, Mumbai. He lies to his mother and lands in Mumbai.
A roller-coaster ride awaits for Vishwas in this bustling city. The fate intervenes and a social worker called Kajal (Ileana D'cruz) mistakens him as a cop, as he unknowingly assists people in huge trouble. However, all these illegal works share a close relations with an underworld mafia, Gundappa (Saurabh Shukla). His identity of a fake cop calls for a flood of hurdles in his path and almost wipes off the possibilities of Vishwas to become a film actor. Meanwhile, Savitri somehow comes to know that Vishwas has become a police inspector in Mumbai and she instantly comes to Mumbai to meet her son and to celebrate his triumph. Here begins the real test of Vishwas and the story starts unfolding the further comic and chaotic events.
