One-line Review: A satirical take on religion and godmen in PK's way

Positive Points: Aamir Khan's "PK" avatar, Smart direction, Excellent content

Negative Points: Second-half falls a bit short in front of the superiority set by first-half part of the film.

Plot: An alien (Aamir Khan) lands in the deserted soil of Rajasthan just like a naked new-born baby, who is completely new to the earth and its people. His antics earn him the name of "PK" (which otherwise means alcoholic). Within few minutes of his trip on Earth, he gets robbed by a stranger who snatches his strange looking gadget that will take him back to his own planet. Like a lost child, he wanders in search of it, until he meets his first best-friend on earth Bhairav Singh (Sanjay Dutt).

Further, PK's quest heads him to New Delhi, where he meets a tenacious TV journalist Jagat Janani aka Jaggu (Anushka Sharma), who is trying to find a worth-telling story but what she finds in PK is much more than a case. Her emotional connection with him makes her to take the charge of solving his dilemma.

Direction and other technical aspects: Rajkumar Hirani has once again proved that he is one of the finest directors of India. He has perfectly maintained the balance between commercial and content-oriented films. Abhijit Joshi finds special mention for his hilariously written screenplay, out of all scenes PK's Bhojpuri connection is worth watching.

Cinematographer C. K. Muraleedharan has shown his excellence while filming the blooming romance of Anushka and Sushant in the beautiful city of Bruges.

Performances: Aamir Khan has once again pulled off an eccentric role with sheer excellence. He impresses one and all with his innocence, whether it is his disguising look of popped out eyes and wide ears or his "nanga-punga" dance, he is lovable in every frame.

Anushka Sharma has played her part more than an actress does; she has narrated the film as well. She looks fresh in her pixie haircut which goes well with her on-screen name "Jaggu".

The prime antagonist of the film, Tapasvi Maharaj played by Saurabh Shukla excels in evoking the disgust.

Boman Irani and Sanjay Dutt are at their best, to provide the chuckle. Even, Sushant Singh Rajput hit the likes for his cuddling chemistry with Anushka in song "Chaar Kadam". Important suggestion here is to wait till the end to watch out Ranbir Kapoor's cameo.

Music: The six tracks album of 'PK' has been crafted well to blend with the story. "Tharki Chokro" has Rajasthani feel, sung by Swaroop Khan. "Nanga Punga Dost" has been melodiously voiced by Shreya Ghoshal, describing innocent PK. While, "Love is a waste of time" deals with the period of falling in love, "Chaar Kadam" celebrates the feeling of being in love.

Final Verdict: Like 'OMG Oh My God!' even 'PK' projects a satirical take on religion and godmen yet it finds its own niche with alienated "PK". His child-like innocence actually takes up the serious issues in the way you have never thought before. For a content as well as entertainment seeker, 'PK' is a must-watch film of 2014!
