Purani Jeans Review

One Line Review: The older, the more comfortable... a jeans with pocket full of friendship and love.

Positive Points: Amazing locales of Kasauli, soothing music, better first half and some pretty faces on screen.

Negative Points: Vintage script, poor acting by the narrator Tanuj Virwani.

Plot: As the curtains rise, here stands the lead Siddharth aka Sid (Tanuj Virwani) in U.S, to essay his tale of friendship on his way back to India after the death of his beloved mother. Kasauli, India, a place where the lad spent the crucial part of his life, is however hesitated to return back as the land not only going to bring him back to his home but also sweet yet salty memories that he cherished here with his friends Sam (Aditya Seal) and three other members of the famous 'Kasauli Cowboys'.

It was a Kasauli summer, season of holidays and season of reunion for the Kasauli Cowboys. This is when the rich lad Sam returns from U.K to meet his buddies and coincidentally lands up the pretty Nayantara (Izabelle Leite). Stepping her feet on the cantonment, she steals the heart of two besties Sam and Sid simultaneously and the simple old friendship turns into a fresh baked love triangle. Without knowing either's feelings for the pretty soul, both try their best to let her know about their love for her. Knowing that both of them love her like hell, Nayantara expresses her feelings to the simple, low profile poet Sid and convinces him to speak out this decision to Sam. However, unfortunately whenever the poor champ tries to disclose the fact, destiny played games which eventually falls the trio into a soup, to be separated forever until Sid returns back to fix the strings.

Direction and Other Technical Aspects: Sailing the ride upon her shoulders, writer - director Tanushri Chattrji Bassu has tried hard to en-cash the youth spirit this holiday season. However, unfortunately her kitty has nothing new to offer apart from the same old friendship funda with the twist of a love triangle. Whereas her inputs as a director are decent, extra efforts on the writing board could have added a brownie point to her share.

Editing handled by Apurva Motiwale is quite appraising along with the cinematography done by the duo Sunil Patel and Christo Bakalov. Produced by Eros International, the flick has no technical flaws as such, however a strong content could have landed the ride on express way. Talking good, the overall motion does not leave its space, all thanks to the screenplay. Whereas the shot sequences proves brilliant to engage the viewers till the end to unfold the twist.

Performances: Speaking about the most talked about Tanuj Virwani, son of the veteran actress Rati Agnihotri, the mother-son duo could been seen sharing screen space as like many other B-Town success rides. Merely, the duo fails to unfold their real life chemistry to reel, all thanks to her lad Tanuj. With his second outing, Tanuj works average as compared to his competitive star kids. His performance of a shy, less spoken simple geek goes well as he is not supposed to express too hard on screen, however, the second half portraying the lad as a rich, self centric tech-savvy businessman is sheer disappointing.

Newcomer Aditya Seal looks pretty confident and sparks shines of becoming the next big thing right from his debut performance. His portrayal of a rich yet lonely soul has been carried well by Seal. However, a bit of preparation on aggression and sentiments would mould the champ to walk the stairs of success.

The snow white of the tale, Izabelle Leite has nothing much to showcase, as like other Bollywood offerings. Her pretty face and much fairer skin does all that's required to keep the reel moving.

Last but not the least, veterans among the youth centric feature, Sarika, Rati Agnihotri and Rajit Kapoor fulfill the treat with a decent share of their acting marvels. Sarika however as a drunkard mom steals the limelight for her magnificent portrayal.

Music: Composed by the ace composer Ram Sampath, the tracklist has amazing blend of tracks right from peppy number like "Yaari Yaari" to a soothing melody "Dil Aaj Kal". The rest other too are decent but those two surely builds a connect to our hearts, making us cherish our lost love and friendship. Overall, Sampath has satisfied the listeners yet again.

Final Verdict: With not that happening weekend, "Purani Jeans" could be a dose of relaxation from your hectic schedule. Not much to think about, the feature will entertain you by walking you down to the memory lane.
