One Line Review: Looking out for horror? ‘Raaz Reboot’ is sure to disappoint you.

Positive Points: Plot set in Dracula’s spooky hometown of Romania and Emraan Hashmi’s half bun hairstyle – are the only two things to win my like.

Negative Points: Seen before eerie screenplay, predictable background score and repeatedly “Raaz” included dialogues are the ingredients of this spoiler.

Review Raaz Reboot

Plot: Rehaan (Gaurav Arora) and Shaina (Kriti Kharbanda) move their base to Romania after the later finds a better job opportunity there. This is the same place where they met, fell in love and decided to get hitched. However, now during their second visit to Romania, the couple is going through a tough time. Rehaan is bothered by some incidences and he starts distancing himself from Shaina. Disturbed by her husband’s behaviour, she starts feeling the presence of a supernatural power in their house. She confides him about the same but he refuses to believe her.

While, Shaina is going through this spooky turmoil all alone, her ex Aditya (Emraan Hashmi) comes to her rescue. He lends her his ears and shoulder to lean on, and is more than ready to help her out of this.

What is the secret brewing in Rehaan’s mind? How is it related to Shaina’s haunted experience? Will Aditya help her get rid of it? Remains the “raaz” which is further unfolded.

Direction and other technical aspects: Director and script writer of ‘Raaz Reboot’, Vikram Bhatt has miserably failed. This fourth instalment of Raaz series is nowhere to the stature of its precedents. Talking about screenplay, are the Bhatts expecting us to jump out of terror seeing this mild horror? And what is the point in including raven and a snake that looks so artificial. Also, that typical eerie sound is a further show spoiler. Bring us something new. Something original. Something that we can call exclusively yours!

Out of all these blues, cinematography of ‘Raaz Reboot’ is the only thing - worth praising in technical department. Be it the plush apartment or the frozen lake, it has been spectacularly captured in frames.

Performances: Gaurav Arora has done a decent job playing a guilt stricken man. South Indian actress Kriti Kharbanda has marked her Bollywood debut with ‘Raaz Reboot’. She is pretty but when it comes to acting, she is not more than an average performer.

Emraan Hashmi is good and has layers to his character. And, yes to all his fans, he does have a couple of lip lock scenes!

Music: Like every Emraan Hashmi film, ‘Raaz Reboot’ too has an album of well composed songs. “Raaz Ankhen Teri” and “Lo Maan Liya” are topping the charts. But considering them from the film’s perspective, they don’t fit in a horror plot.

Final Verdict: Bhatt camp needs to do a lot of homework before coming up with a horror film next. Their existing products like ‘Horror Story’, ‘Creature’ and the latest ‘Raaz Reboot’ are lowering the mark that ‘Raaz’ had once set.
