One Line Review: This power packed action flick is all set to shock and thrill you like never before.
Positive Points: Marvellous direction and cinematography; Hollywood like visual appearance; adrenaline pumping action sequences; strong character performances; unpredictably amazing story; awesome music.
Negative Points: Couple of unnecessary double meaning dialogues.
Plot: Armaan Malik (John Abraham) is a powerful business tycoon in Turkey. Once a street fighter, now is the owner of several casinos and a great amount of wealth. However, he shares fifty percent of his wealth with his half sister Elena (Deepika Padukone). Now being gifted with the devil's wit, this guy organizes gambling sessions on his cruise ship on the last Saturday of every month, where through deceit he cheats the participants and wins their money.
However, a smart pickpocket Omisha (Jacqueline Fernandez), is saved and befriended at a party by the ambitious and smart Armaan Malik who soon becomes his love interest. Apparently, she is not only good at archery and fencing, but also at this game of deceit and betrayal.
On the other hand, Ranveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan), is another ambitious man with his own agendas to emerge supreme in this 'race'. And then you have inspector Robert D'Costa (Anil Kapoor) with his cheerful secretary Cherry (Amisha Patel), who too play a major part in this game.
Apparently, there is a great matter of contention that pits both these aggressively ambitious men against each other. Then begins a dangerous game of power, money, deceit and wits that will decide the real winner of this deadly 'race'.
Direction And Other Technical Aspects: Abbas Burmawalla and Mustan Burmawalla have done a very brilliant job with the kind of superb direction that have they have offered. One can sense their total dedication in the making of this film. They have, in fact lifted it completely to the level of a Hollywood movie.
Action: The action sequences by Peter Heins are outstanding and are surely to give you the thrill of an ideal action flick. The most visible example of this is the mid-air action sequence set in an aircraft. This is certainly a very brilliant value addition to the film as it introduces a completely new dimension of action to it.
Cinematography by Ravi Yadav is great and undoubtedly impressive as he has succeeded in taking every shot in a perfect manner.
Performances: The star cast of the film succeeds to live up to its entire profile as a big action flick. John Abraham has played his role as a strong minded, quick witted and aggressively ambitious business tycoon with great capability. Saif Ali Khan too embodies in himself, the real essence of a cunning guy, determined to achieve his goals. Deepika Padukone delivers an apt performance in the portrayal of a hot and bold young woman. Jacqueline Fernandez falls no short of performance delivery when depicting a she devil through dialogues and her sharp expressions.
Actors in the supporting cast are also well in their place, with Anil Kapoor as the cunning inspector, who disillusions others by trying to act fool and Aditya Pancholi as the big don called 'Godfather' builds up an air of stress and threat.
Music: Like other aspects of this film, the music too is awesome and is gonna give you powerful feel of this film. Pritam Chakraborty has surely done a very commendable job as the music director. 'Lat Lag Gayee' is probably the most incredible and amazing song in the film, sung by Shalmali Kholgade and Benny Dayal.
'Party On My Mind' is another catchy party track sung by KK Menon, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Shefali Alvares. Also the 'Allah Duhai Hai' song which was also in the first part, was now sung by Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchanda.
Final Verdict: If you loved 'Race', then 'Race 2' is gonna rock your soul. The film performs more than its part of fulfilling audience's expectations. It will keep you engaged and thrilled with its powerful story, awesome action sequences and strong performances. This film has set the silver screen on fire. With no further doubt, this movie is definitely worth a watch.
