Rating: 2.5/5

RASCALS is a Hindi feature film which released on 6th September, 2011.Usually any Hindi feature film in Bollywood releases on Friday but this film released on Thursday due to Dushera. The producers might have made strategies to earn more profit due to Durga Puja/Vijay Dashmi/Dusherra. But would the film really earn the profit as much as it has been expected by its makers?

Story : The story is about Chetan & Bhagat. Both the characters have been played by Sanjay Dutt & Ajay Devgan. They are two conman and biggest rivals of each other. They want to outwit each one. In order to pull each other's pant, they can go to any extent which can create fun; whether their act appears to create laughter or cheap comedy is none of their business. It's you who have to decide the category.

Kangna Ranaut has played the role of a rich man's daughter. Both Chetan and Bhagat want to woo her. In order to woo her they go to any extent in pulling each other's leg and in trying to impress Kangna. Who wins her heart and who takes her away at last is what makes the rest of the film.

Performance : Sanjay Dutt has proved earlier that he is a top class comedian. But due to poor or cheap gags and double meaning plus dirty dialogues in this film, Sanjay Dutt get wrapped in scripts negativity and you don't pay much attention to his acting. Had the script been really good you would have found Sanjay Dutt too good.

Ajay Devgan too has proved in his Rohit Shetty's film GOLMAAL & its sequels and films like ALL THE BEST that he can do comic role brilliantly but his efforts have been made futile by the script writers in this film. He has tried to make you laugh but his gags are so stupid that only low profile people may laugh or you may also laugh not due to good humor but on their sanity and stupidity.

Kangna Ranawat is here to prove how sexy she could be. She wants to prove that in no way she can be less than Mallika Sherawat. She is mainly here for exposure of her skin and very less for to show her acting skills.

Arjun Rampal, Chunky Pandey and Satish Kausik are as usual.

Script : The plot is not new so it not refreshing! Most of the sequences you would have watched in DEEWANA MASTNA of Anil Kapoor and Govinda or PARTNER of Salmaan –Govinda. Even recently released film HUM TUM SHABANA contained almost similar plot in which Tusshar & Shreyas are in a competition to pull each other's pant in an attempt to impress Shabana.

Music : Music composed by Vishaal-Shekhar is good and catchy. After a long time Vishaal-Shekhar have given music which are catchy and people may listen to it several times.

Direction : Direction of David Dhawan is as usual. His takings are good and his hold over comedy is also good but his choice of plot or script is not good. He repeats the same gags all the time which goes against his work. Also he doesn't mind in using double meaning scenes or dialogues which can be liked only by those types of audiences and which keep family out of the theaters.

Plus Points : Sanjay Dutt; Ajay Devgan & Music.

Minus Points : Cheap Comedies; Double Meaning Dialogues; Stale Gags.

Conclusion : David Dhawan could have taken advantage of the image of Ajay Devgan who continuously kept giving hits like GOLMAAL & its sequels and SINGHAM and he could have taken advantage of Sanjay Dutt's fan followers as there are millions of his fans due to his Munnabhai image, but the director even spoiled their image. Fans of Sanjay Dutt who liked his as Munnabhai would hardly like what he had done in this film.

Due to its attractive promos where Kangna showed her semi nude figure, this film may start with huge openings which may continue due to the festive season and holidays and being no other movie standing in its competition.

Verdict : It not bad for you if you are an adult but don't watch it with your family; and before taking your family to the theaters, watch yourself first and thereafter you will automatically decide whether it is for your family or not.
