Rating: 2.5/5

Road To Sangam is a very brave and nice effort by the writer and debutant director of this film Amit Roy.

It is not a commercial film so it is not going to make huge money. Therefore its producer Amit Chheda ? should be appreciated for his brave effort to produce such film.

Our country needs such films if we want a better India.

The story begins with Tushar Gandhi, who is the grandson of the real Hero Mahatma Gandhi, who receives box of his grandfather's (Mahatma Gandhi's) ashes. He has mixed reaction to know that that box of ashes have been lying at a local post office for years. Now what he would do? After multiple reactions he takes decision to immerse it in the holy river 'Sangam'.

Thereafter the story revolves around the protagonist of the film Hashmatullah (Paresh Rawal), who is a car mechanic.

A bomb explosion has taken place and many innocent Muslims are being picked up by the police for interrogation and many other reasons which cause fury among the Muslim leaders Om Puri & Pawan Malhotra, who call for a strike to protest the happenings.

But Paresh Rawal is on a different mission which is directly related to the immersion of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes in Ganga river.

He is in dilemma, whether to be with his religion or listen to what his conscience was saying.

What happens and how the writer-director tackles, is rest of the film.

Paresh Rawal in this role is excellent. Om Puri and Pawan Malhotra too are superb.

Above all, the writer, director & the producer should be given applause to make a film like this. It pricks your conscience. It shows us the mirror why wars have been fought and continues to be fought in the name of religion.

Though this film may not appeal the mass audience and would not gather enough revenue, but it is a film worth watching if you don't want riots again and again in our country. It is an eye opener. Others should be encouraged to watch this movie which would finally benefit the country.
