SHAKL PE MAT JA is a Hindi feature film which released on 17th November, 2011. This film has been produced under the banner of Linc Entertainment and Ipix Movies. Shubh is the director of this film.
Story : This is the story of four young boys whose looks are not like gentleman and they appear as terrorists. These four people are Ankit Sharma (Shubh), Rohan Malhotra (Chitrak Bandhopadhyay), Bulai (Harsh Parekh) and Dhruv Sharma (Master Pratik Katare). On a day they go to Delhi International Airport to shoot some footage of a landing airplane for a documentary. But while they try to do so, police officials misunderstand them by their looks as terrorists. They try to clarify their positions but police officials are not convinced and start interrogating them. The Anti Terrorist Squad team which includes, Chavan (Saurabh Shukla) and Om Prakash (Raghubir Yadav) as ATS officers still belive the to be from terrorist group.
Not only this; the four young people keep falling into troubles due to their looks and so the film is justified that SHAKL PE MAT JA which literally means – do not judge people just by their looks.
Are they able to prove their innocence? If yes, then how? These are some questions answered in the rest of the film.
Performance : Performance-wise Shubh is okay but his appearance is not what Indian audience would accept as their filmy Hero. Chitrak Bandhopadhyay is average but his English speaking is confusing. At many places he irritates you instead of making you smile. Harsh Parekh is so and so. Child artist Pratik is annoying. Saurabh Shukla is good at some places but confused at some places because his character is not properly defined. Raghubir Yadav is as usual. Mushtaq Khan is good.
Script : Script is not convincing and carries many loopholes. Screenplay is weak. It is comical at some places but rest of the places it irritates. Dialogues are so and so.
Music : It is not impressive.
Direction : Direction by Shubh looks amateurish. Takings as well as blocks are not so impressive where a debut director should take care of. He has confused the characters.
Plus Points : It makes you smile at a few places only.
Minus Points : Script, direction, star performances, music etc.
Conclusion : It is a good effort by some newcomers with low budget but it will not attract the audience due to various minus points mentioned above. The best thing is that the team has not wasted huge money on this film as many makers do and face dire consequences. So when you make a low budget film even if it doesn't do good business you lose nothing big but you get nice experience and you get to learn many things. But if you spend huge amount of money and the film flops you suffer a huge loss at the cost of nothing worth mentioning.
Verdict : Not so bad but its better to watch on satellite release rather than spending money in theaters.
