Striker Plot

This time from the director of 'Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh' and 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon', and top-lining Siddharth Narayan of 'Rang De Basanti' fame, we have got 'Striker'. It is the story of a carrom player who grows up on the outer edge of a criminal existence but has no interest in it.

The script is set in the time of 80's in Bombay. Basically the story is set in a true life account. Striker is a story that set the rule of victory of human spirit over unconquerable odds. Surya, Played by Siddharth is born into a poor family, and that is he had always enjoyed few luxuries in his life. And due to bad health he was away from school and thus was the time when he was introduced to carom by his eldewr brother.

Carrom is quite similar to pool in the concept of playing it. Carrom is the game of middle and lower income groups in India. As this game is more common and popular among such group. The game needs accuracy and vital skill to play it well; and like every other game attitude and confidence are also crucial to winning. From years on carrom is breeding under the gamblers and hustlers in their underground worlds.

Surya won the Junior Carrom Championship at the age of 12. though winning was not enough to keep Surya's fire for the sport burning through adolescence. He always hoped for a job in Dubai and that replacing his passion for carrom, as Surya was growing into a young man.

Surya had collected some money that he had earned for going Dubai, but he loses all of them as is cheated by an employment agency that promised for a guarenteed job overseas. To get back his he is forced to cross paths with Jaleel, who was famous for doing illeligal activities in his area. He was a gunda of his area and was living by using the weaknesses of people for money, as he called himself the king of Malwani.

Being cheated for his hard-earned money by the man is responsible of causing misery for many families, Surya decides to fight with Jaleel on his ground. For the same purpose Surya is reintroduced to Carrom to win back his dignity by his childhood friend Zaid. His patience and cool attitude plays the biggest strengths for Surya. But as said life always tests a person no matter how strong he is and same thing happened with Surya.

Striker is a story that will not signify good versus evil, but rather it is a story of the life in the city of dreams in the time of 80s, it is the story of a friendship, and of a game that is common in every heart but still missing.
