Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Review

Rating: 2.5/5

One Line Review: A derogatory attempt to make one laugh with a drained-out storyline.

Positive Points: Sparks of comedy at certain points, splendid shoot locations.

Negative Points: Script flowing at snail's pace, lack of enough comedy ingredients.

Plot: Dharam Singh (Dharmendra) is a shown as a UK-based 'baba', who wears the typical orange attire. This fake baba keeps on reciting a mantra called 'Yamla Pagla Deewana'. Dharam has two sons - Paramveer Singh (Sunny Deol) and Gajodhar Singh aka Prem (Bobby Deol). One day, a rich business tycoon called Sir Yograj Khanna comes to take 'darshan' of Dharam Singh.Dharam gets lured, when he comes to know that wealthy Sir Yograj Khanna is having a daughter called Suman (Neha Sharma). The thought of marriage of Suman with Gajodhar takes Dharam on cloud nine, as their marriage can make Dharam an overnight owner of huge moolahs.

Paramveer Singh works in an agency and Reet ( Kristina Akheeva) is his lady love. Sir Yograj Khanna bestows the responsibility of managing a face-lift to a club owned by this affluent businessman. On the other side, Dharam Singh and Gajodhar Singh keep their eyes on the wealth of businessman Yograj Khanna. Paramveer Singh, who is the man of principles, proves as an obstacle in the marriage of Gajodhar and Suman. In the meanwhile, Dharam comes to know that Suman is not the actual daughter of Sir Yograj Khanna, she is just like a daughter for him.

Will Gajodhar get married to Suman or Yograj Khanna's real daughter?

Will Paramveer be able to stop this wedding?

Direction And Other Technical Aspects: The director Sangeeth Sivan has come up with a meaningless and hollow script. Double fun, lots of action and laughter ride were expected from this film, which was shown in the fun-filled trailers of it. Apart from spending the lavish amount of expenses to make this flick, the overall making of the film depicts the failure of director in hooking up with the scene. From the trailers, it was expected to be a joyous roller-coaster ride from this magical power-trio like its original version 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' of the year 2011, however the hackneyed script and prolonged stretching of the story make the film go downhill.

Also some fight sequences are forcefully stuffed inside this flick, as it completely has no strings attached to the actual story. There is no gripping power in story that lacks luster to make the audience fell off the seat laughing at their best. It would have been better if the tale would have presented in a more comic way.

This inane Punjabi laughter riot fails to snatch interest of viewers as the things fizzle out easily. The wacky and absurd storyline is enough to camouflage the good appearances of all the characters. There is no salvage of the overall show, which does not tap the potential to be a successful comic caper. Camerawork is average.

Performance: Dharmendra proved as a scene-stealer, as he wins the hearts of viewers by his veteran acting skills. Owing to loss of 'dum' in storyline, the dhaai kilo ka haath of Sunny Deol could not perform much magic in this film. Bobby Deol performed till average level for his role. The female leads - Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva suited well as show dolls.

The other supporting cast of the film, such as Anupam Kher,Sucheta Khanna and Johny Lever performed too far from the expected amount of comedy element in their acting.

Music: The music by Sharib-Toshi and Sachin Gupta could not woo the music-buffs at all. Not a single track from the film seems a memorable one. The music track 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' was average and 'Main Taan Aidaan Hi Nachna' is spectacular only for the dance by Dharmendra.

Final Verdict: This Punjabi-flavor so called comic extravaganza will leave you with enough disappointment. Comparing this sequel with its prequel 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' is not worth at all.
