Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Review

ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA is a Hindi feature film which released on 18th July, 2011. This film has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani under the banner of Eros International Media Ltd. & Excel entertainment and has been directed by Zoya Akhtar.

Story : The story revolves around the lives of three fast friends Arjun(Hritik Roshan), Kabir Dewan (Abhay Deol) and Imraan (Farha Akhtar) (though there are their girlfriends also involved in the film.) Arjun is a financial broker in Spain and is workaholic. Kabir has his construction business in Mumbai whereas Imraan is a copywriter in an advertising company who also writes poetry in his leisure period. He is also searching his estranged father.

The three friends meet together and talk on going on a trip where they could do everything which they wished to do but due to time constraints they couldn't do that and also they would do everything which scared them and they were always afraid of doing such things.

Arjun is scared of Scuba diving so this film prepares him to face his fear and overcome it; Imran is afraid of Sky Diving hence this film makes him to confront Sky Diving and overcome his fear. So is the case with Kabir.

In this film they do scuba diving, sky diving and confront a bull fight. And all this is done to overcome their fears.

As the film progress the male characters go on discovering their lady love such as Katrina Kaif as Laila, girlfriend of Arjun; Abhay falls in love with Kalki and so on.

As the film title suggests- ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA want to tell its characters that you are not going to get this life again so live it to its fullest!

Performance : Hritik Roshan looks fantastic! Not only his looks are good but his performance is also superb. As people say he is just a good dancer not a good actor but the fact is no so. He is a brilliant actor too! Farhan Akhtar too has played his part well and has justified his role by playing stupendously in his comic timing and one liner. He looked dull in his solo film KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK whereas he looks lively in this film and needs appreciation for his performance. Abhay Deol's performance is as usual. He looks natural and never over acts. He seems to be confident about what he is doing even though some of his previous films didn't do well at the box office.

Katrina Kaif looks gorgeous as her previous films but in this film she has also given stress on improving her acting skills.

Kalki Koechlin is average.

Music : Though the music of the film is given by Shankar –Ehsaan- Loy who are renowned musicians of the Hindi film Industry, the music of this film is average and not as powerful or as melodious as these music directors have given in some of their previous films. You can't play this film's music again and again for long time.

Script : It is a well written script by Reema Kagti and the director Zoya Akhtar and gives you some goods messages.

Lyrics: Songs written by Javed Akhtar are good and meaningful.

Camerawork: The work done by the DOP Carlos Catalan is excellent.

Choreography : The songs are choreographed by Bosco-Caesar and Vaibhavi Merchant are good.

Direction : Zoya Akhtar has improved in her direction skills from her previous film LUCK BY CHANCE. She has managed to visualize some risky shots and background. She is also involved in script (and since she is the daughter of great writer Javed Khan) she has written her script well and justified almost all scenes.

Plus Point: It is almost a clean film and can be watched with family. It is an inspirational film which would really inspire you in life.

Conclusion : The film will remind you your college days and your old friends. It will also remind you Farhan Akhtar's directional film DIL CHAHTA HAI which rotated around three friends. Though the film is slow at times, you will forget it after getting engrossed in its plus points. This is a light film with thrills and adventures which you may like.

Verdict : It is more than an average film with good messages and you can go for it with your friends and family!
