A sequel to Irrfan Khan’s ‘Hindi Medium’ is happening but without Saba Qamar?

Last year, Irrfan Khan gave one of the best films of 2017 in the form of ‘ Hindi Medium ’. The film was a satirical take on Indian education system and was a super hit at the box office. The comedy-drama was directed by Saket Chaudhary and also featured Pakistani superstar, Saba Qamar and talented, Deepak Dobriyal . Ever since the film got a tag of ‘super-hit’, rumours have it that the makers are planning a sequel. And now, as reported by a leading tabloid, the sequel for the film will go on floors in August this year. It is reported that producer Dinesh Vijan is planning for a sequel to the film.

But the latest we hear is the sequel will neither have Saba Qamar nor the child artist who played Irrfan and Saba’s daughter in the film. Irrfan Khan will continue his role as Raj Batra in the film.

A source stated, "The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 years. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original."

Saba, who played Irrfan's wife in the film, had told a Pakistani daily that she wishes to be a part of the sequel. She said, "After the massive success of Hindi Medium, the producers are all set for a sequel. I hope Irrfan and I get to work in the second installment of the blockbuster."

We can’t say whether the sequel is in the making or not but we can definitely say that Irrfan these days is neck tight busy. He has a total of 6 films releasing this year, so even if he has any plans for the sequel, it will take a long long time.
