It would be quite accurate to say Abhishek Bachchan is going through a tough time in his career because he has gone missing from movies for almost a year-and-a-half, which is quite along for a Bollywood star like him. While his ‘walking out’ act from JP Dutta ’s Paltan made his position even weaker. But the actor is gearing up for 2018, as he recently signed an untitled film with Shailesh Singh and Priyadarshan 's venture is in process. And now, Abhishek will be teaming up with Shahid Kapoor for a social drama, tentatively titled Roshni, to play a parallel role in the film directed by Shree Narayan Singh , who directed Toilet: Ek Prem Katha !
As per the sources close to the production house reveals, “Abhishek was recently given a narration and he was quite excited by the script. It is a story about two men, one is involved in electricity theft and the other starts a movement against the practice." Since, Shahid Kapoor has already been roped in to play the lawyer, who fights against the unfair practice, Abhishek will be the culprit and if the prediction goes right, Abhishek’s character would likely to have a darker shade. It would be interesting to see how this chemistry works out, and as track records suggest, Abhishek Bachchan has capability to outperform in the film that has an ensemble cast like Housefull 3 , Happy New Year and Yuva or even a two-hero film like Bol Bachchan and Dhoom franchise! And since Roshni will be a satirical comedy-drama, it would be a worth watching experience to see Shahid and Abhishek pitted against each other in courtroom monologue!
However, there are some reports that suggest Shahid Kapoor refrains from two-hero films and he signed Padmavati after he was assured that he'd enjoy as much screen time as co-star Ranveer Singh . And when Mid-day asked producer Prernaa Arora about the casting decision, she said, “Abhishek is surely on our wish list, but nothing has been finalized yet. We've already signed Shahid, who is the main lead of the film.”
