Released on 25th January 2018, Padmaavat has now completed a glorious 50 days run at the box office. After 7th week at the domestic ticket windows, Sanjay Leela Bhansali ’s magnum opus has now entered the prestigious Rs. 300 crores club. Padmaavat, that stars Deepika Padukone , Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, becomes sixth Hindi film to achieve this feat and first film without Khans to touch the 300 crores mark. Despite not getting released in some major states of India, the film earned the tag of All Time Blockbuster (ATBB).
According to trade analysts, if the film would have been released Pan India, the collections would have crossed 390-400 crores, beating Aamir Khan ’s Dangal .
On this tremendous success, the director recently said “What better gift can I expect than this wholehearted acceptance of my film? There were threats and risks of violence and yet families all across the country went to see Padmaavat. It gives me feeling of tremendous gratitude.”
“I’ve been through so much during the past year, I am numbed. It is baffling why the situation was allowed to get out of hand in the first place. I can only thank the audience for going to see my film in spite of the threats,” said Bhansali, who saw some ugly controversies around his film.
Apart from three leads, the film also featured Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh , who had pivotal roles in it.
