The trend of remaking the Hindi version of regional films is never going away from Bollywood. One such regional film is Jigarthanda, a Tamil language musical-gangster movie, which came out in 2014 and was a major hit. The movie was a tale of two heroes, where one was seen as a gangster while the other was a struggling filmmaker. The Hindi remake rights of the film are purchased by Ajay Devgn and he wanted Sanjay Dutt and Farhan Akhtar to play the role of a gangster and struggling director respectively. Though Farhan walked out of the film, a report suggests actor Kartik Aaryan has stepped in to play the aspiring director.
According to reports, the makers were desperately on a hunt for an actor who could play this role after Farhan’s exit. When they met Kartik, they felt he fit the bill perfectly.
Produced by Ajay Devgn , the Jigarthanda remake is to be directed by Nishikant Kamat. The film is also said to star Tamannaah Bhatia as the leading lady. The film which was expected to go on floor earlier is now slated to commence from April.
The original film Jigarthanda featured Siddharth of Rang De Basanti fame in the role of the filmmaker and Bobby Simha in the role of the gangster.
