After Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Varma joins the team of Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’!
The team of ‘Gully Boy’ just got bigger by the inclusion of Vijay Varma. The actor will play Ranveer Singh’s childhood friend.

As Zoya Akhtar ’s ‘ Gully Boy ’ is slowly moving forward, the cast is getting bigger. After Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt , a few weeks ago, it was reported that Kalki Koechlin will also be a part of the film and now, it has been confirmed that actor Vijay Varma will also have a pivotal role in the movie. Vijay was last seen in action-thriller ‘ Monsoon Shootout ’ opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui but his role in ‘Gully Boy’ will be completely different. He will play Ranveer Singh ’s childhood friend and while growing up together they turn out to be the best rappers in the vicinity. Vijay has been associated with indie genre films so far but with Gully Boy, he is all set to explore a full-blown commercial movie for the first time in Bollywood.
Speaking on this Vijay said, “Working with Zoya Akhtar is like a dream come true. She is one of the finest directors we have in the country and I am eagerly looking forward to shoot this one. Also sharing screen space with the mighty Ranveer Singh is gonna be fun! “
For the uninitiated, the film is about four underground rappers, who rose to fame with their raw rapping skills. Basically, the film is a real-life story of rappers Divine and Naezy and is being made under the banner of Excel Entertainment. Helmed by Zoya, the release date of the same is not revealed yet.
