After doing multiple comedy dramas and social message-driven films, Akshay Kumar is returning to the territory that he had dominated in the early years of his career — action. Khiladi Kumar, who is riding high on the success of Pad Man , will be next seen in a period drama, Gold , but apart from that, he has two back to back high octane action flicks. In his recent interview, he says that as much as he enjoys doing thought-provoking films, he is also making certain of balancing them with actioners. "I'm 50 now. How much time do I have left [to do action]? How much can my body take? Realistically, I probably have another five years to do action, so I'd like to do as much of it while I can," he reasons.
Kumar wisely mixed his masala potboilers with social dramas — a formula that ensured he stayed relevant to an otherwise fickle audience. "The only thing that attracts audiences is change. I keep myself relevant by not settling for what's comfortable or easy. The industry has changed for the better — be it the kind of scripts that are being written, the music, or the pay cheques for actors."
Talking about his role of Dr Richard in 2.0 , the actor says his wife Twinkle Khanna and he have a proclivity towards horror movies, presumably the reason why Akshay Kumar opted for this film. "Tina and I are big fans of the genre. [We enjoy] anything that can scare the shit out of us."
While the actor is busy for the next two years, he has also approached by Prernaa Arora for a yet another collaboration and he is also in talks with John Abraham for the Garam Masala sequel.
