Despite making Masala films, Bollywood also makes exceptions to create films with substance and based on real events or people, which sometimes cause controversies. And now Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has decided to make a film based on memoir The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh, who was former Prime Minister of India. And the actor, the director chose to play such a complex character is Anupam Kher , who would be a perfect fit for the role since he has played characters of authoritative figures before in his career.
Even as per the first look poster, it seems to stir many controversies from political backgrounds. The political memoir was written by Sanjaya Baru and garnered much heat and many controversies when it was published in 2014, for its subject matter but it was also appreciated by the critique for its political detailing. The silver screen adaptation is helmed by talented producers like Bohra Bros., Ashoke Pandit, and Hansal Mehta , who are known to undertake daring subjects and make outstanding cinema out of it.
To the subject person, Dr. Manmohan Singh, he was a well-celebrated economist who brought Indian industrial revolution in 1993 by reinventing industrial policies. But throughout his political career, he was also subjected to face criticism and backlashes during his time as Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. It would be interesting to see how the character of Manmohan Singh would be written and essayed in which light by director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.
The film will be out in winter 2018 and currently is in the pre-production phase. It would be interesting to see who would be cast for other characters in the story. BollywoodMDB would keep you updated.
