The handsome muscle hunk of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar striked with his Marathi debut production project, '72 Miles Ek Pravas'. The film produced by Akshay's production house, Grazing Goat Pictures and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures , released on August 9. It is directed by Rajeev Patil and is set in 1950's and 60's.
The film had captured amazing visuals from Maharashtra and narrates a story regarding coming of age of a 13-years old boy, Ashok, who escapes from the hostel. The movie showcases how the life of that boy takes a diverse turn after meeting a woman along with her children. The Bollywood fraternity went ga-ga over this Marathi flick by Akshay Kumar and co-founder of production house, Ashvini Yardi .
Imtiaz Ali appreciated the film by saying that it is an insightful portrayal of a tragic and captivating journey of real characters. Ali praised the leading lady of the film, Smita Tambe for her great performance. Also, the music and thought-provoking moments from the film were praised by Imtiaz Ali . Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh showered praises on film mentioning it as an emotional roller-coaster ride studded with excellent performances. Shotgun junior Sonakshi Sinha said the movie is an eye-opener for many topics, which we take for granted otherwise. She also tagged the film as a must-watch for new generation.
The veteran actor Nana Patekar explained that adapting a book into a movie is a tough job and Rajeev Patil had done it wonderfully. Patekar also gave thumbs up for Smita Tambe's unmatched performance. Madhur Bhandarkar congratulated the entire team for a brilliant job and gave special wishes to Smita Tambe, who stole the show.
Apart from this, Juhi Chawla , Umesh Shukla and Inder Kumar also applauded the film.
