Bombay Talkies and Monsoon Shootout to be premiered at Cannes

It is very proud to see Indian movies getting more and more recognition at Cannes Film Festival with each passing year. Several great Indian movies are climbing the ladder of the fest by receiving invitation from Cannes.

It is very proud to see Indian movies getting more and more recognition at Cannes Film Festival with each passing year. Several great Indian movies are climbing the ladder of the fest by receiving invitation from Cannes.

This year India will make feel its presence at Cannes Film Festival 2013 with two quality films, ' Bombay Talkies ' and 'Monsoon Shootout'. It will be 66th Cannes festival taking place this year.

' Bombay Talkies ' will have its gala screening at Cannes, while 'Monsoon Shootout', which is from non-competition category, will have its midnight screening. Apparently, this Cannes festival will see three Indian films appearing. 'Maya' is a short movie focusing on subject of rape, directed by Amol Karnil, a Mumbai based filmmaker. 'Maya' will be premiered in short-film competition.

' Bombay Talkies ' is a group work by four renowned directors of India - Karan Johar , Zoya Akhtar , Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee . India being the guest country this year at Cannes, 'Bombay Talkies' will receive a special 'Tribute to India' gala screening.

'Monsoon Shootout' is directed by debutant Amit Kumar. The movie is co-produced by Trevor Ingman, a UK based producer and director Asif Kapadia. Fortissimo Films manage international sales of 'Monsoon Shootout'.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be present on first day of the festival. On the same day, 'The Great Gatsby' by Baz Luhrmann will be premiered at the fest, in which Bachchan had performed a cameo.

For short Films and Cinefoundation, the eminent Bollywood actress Nandita Das will be a jury member. This is second time of actress Nandita Das becoming a jury member. Prior to this year, she has been a part of jury at Cannes Film Festival 2005.

This year Cannes festival would witness a powerful Indian presence to celebrate 100 years of Hindi cinema.

Cannes Film Festival 2013 will be opened with a Leonardo DiCaprio starrer. The festival will commence from May 15 and will continue till May 26.
