The release date of Sanjay Leela Bhansali ’s ‘ Padmavati ’ is near but the tension around the film is continuously mounting. The communal groups are constantly trying to stop the film to get released and now the Censor Board has created a new roadblock for the filmmaker. It has now come to light that CBFC has refused to watch the film and certify it owing to ‘deficiency in application’. A source in the CBFC told a news agency, “The film was submitted for certification last week. We examined the documents, as we normally do. It was conveyed to the makers that their application was incomplete. They had to rectify and send it back, we will view it when it comes back to us,” “When they (makers) rectify the deficiency we will again scrutinize it once more and when the turn comes we will examine it (film for certification),” the source added.
The Viacom 18’s COO, Mr. Ajit Andhare has confirmed the reports and gave a statement to a leading news agency, “That’s true. But film is with the CBFC, it is merely a minor technical issue. Nothing stops them from seeing the film if they want.”
The release is just 2 weeks away and till now, from death threats to strikes, to CBFC’s rejection, the makers of the film have seen it all. Well, as slated to release on 1st December, it will interesting to see if the film manages to clear all the obstacles and could get a clean chit or not.
