Madhur Bhandarkar 's film Chandni Bar (2001) witnessed success at the box office and the lead actress Tabu won the National Award for Best Actress category. The movie is soon arriving with its sequel titled Chandni Bar 2 Ruby Bar, as per the latest news update.
The film by Sandeep Choudhary and Harish Kotian will narrate the story of life of bar dancer girls in the aftermath of the ban. It will open doors to an eager clientele. Talking about this, Harish stated "The sequel focuses on the plight of Mumbai's bar dancer girls in the aftermath of the ban, at a time when dance bar owners are waiting for a license (to be issued by March 15) to be back in business. I began writing it soon after the ban came into effect,"
"Our film will concentrate on the political dynamics around the functioning of the bar and how it impacts the lives of girls who work there, supporting their families with the money they earn dancing" added Kotian. He mentioned about a girl who had five siblings and was the sole breadwinner of the family. She was forced into prostitution after the ban on dance bars.
Kotian stated "We will go on the floors in April and the film will be shot entirely in Mumbai. We may venture out of the city to shoot a song but that's it. The film will be an eye-opener for the government,"
Sachin Khedekar, Suchitra Pillai and Zakir Hussain are already on board for playing crucial roles, revealed Harish Kotian.
