Deepika Padukone: Everyone is making sports biopics. I want to do something fun and light!
As her upcoming film with Irrfan Khan has pushed for now, Deepika wants to do films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Early this year, Deepika Padukone ’s Padmaavat became the first woman-centric film to enter the glorious 300 crores club. After this, she was all set to join forces with Irrfan Khan for Vishal Bhardwaj ’s next. But as Irrfan is going through some severe health issues, the project has now been pushed. We know that the actress has done enough action flicks but now, she now wants to do a light-hearted film.
In an interview with a noted journalist, she also talked about the project she would choose next and said, “I can’t tell you how many people have said, “can you do another Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani ?” But people aren’t making that many love stories anymore. Everyone is making sports biopics. I want to do something fun and light – that’s my brief! And that hasn’t come as yet.”
Deepika also shared her process of picking a script. She said, “The process is the same. I think earlier, there were times I was tempted to do films because it was a big project and certain names were coming together, and the script can be worked later. But with success comes confidence. Today I can say it’s not okay. Success makes me a lot of confident and feel free. It gives me the ability to express. It doesn’t feel like a burden. I feel empowered.”
Currently, the diva is busy helping her parents to complete their home. Any confirmation about her next project is awaited.
